The Strategic Director, Healthcare Partnerships represents the Association's healthcare strategy and goals in engagement and partnerships with national companies and associations, such as medical professional associations (AAN, AAFP) and healthcare industry trade associations (AHA, AHIP). The Director leads Association engagement with some of these organizations, as assigned. The Director represents the Association's healthcare strategy and goals in funding opportunities and manages pre-award strategy and post-award operations for grants and gifts secured in support of Healthcare and Health Systems work. The Director leverages funding and partnership opportunities to help build evidence for the effectiveness of the Association's healthcare and health systems products, services and initiatives. This role requires high levels of strategic planning, operations management, writing and other communication skills and internal collaboration.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
35% Represent the Association's healthcare strategy and goals in engagement and partnerships with national companies and associations, such as medical professional associations, and healthcare industry trade associations. Lead Association engagement with some of these organizations, as assigned. Achieve measurable results in support of the Association's healthcare goals through these engagements and partnerships, including:
Responsible for prospecting, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding relationships with assigned organizations
Increase the engagement of assigned companies and organizations in the Association's mission, including healthcare initiatives such as roundtables, guidelines endorsement by medical professional associations, and full mission engagement
25% Represent the Association's healthcare strategy and goals in funding opportunities, contributing healthcare expertise and content creation for proposals, in coordination with other functions such as Major Gifts, Corporate Initiatives and Government Grants (pre-award). Priorities for funding include support for health systems and healthcare personnel costs, products and initiatives, and building evidence of their effectiveness
30% Manage operations and financial tracking for grants, gifts and related evaluation projects secured in support of Association healthcare and health systems work (post-award)
10% Maintain knowledge of healthcare industry trends, best-practices, and evolving technologies
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
8 or more years of relationship cultivation and management skills, with organizations and individuals
Strategic thinking and systems thinking
Strong communications skills, especially written communications to articulate strategy and translate into funding proposals
Informal (non-supervisory) leadership skills, to engage assigned organizations and coordinate with co-workers to meet Association healthcare goals
Operations management and grant management (pre- and post-award)
Knowledge of payer and health systems operations, business models and priorities, and healthcare payment and policy issues
Knowledge of methods for systems change and quality improvement in health care
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
6 or more years of experience working with and/or in the healthcare industry
Demonstrated success and measurable results in grant proposals and grant management
Bachelors degree required, preferred in a healthcare-related field; Masters degree preferred
Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% within the United States, by car or plane
Position Location: US remote with travel as needed
Full time based on 37.5 hours per week minimum
Position Grade: 511 Exempt - Estimated Annual Salary Range ($120,000-$145,000)
