Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Payroll/Timekeeping Supervisor.  Under general direction, this position will plan, organize, and evaluate the statewide payroll and timekeeping system.  The position will develop payroll and timekeeping policy and rules for staff, regional timekeepers, and payroll office staff and develop and deliver training.  This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is focused on ensuring that supportive payroll and timekeeping process are fulfilled in an efficient, effective manner to provide the best possible service to agency employees.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and strong leadership and communication capabilities.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as Payroll/Timekeeping Supervisor and program manager of the payroll and timekeeping program

2. Develops and interprets payroll and timekeeping policy and rules for staff, regional timekeepers, and payroll office staff

3. Reviews, evaluates, and analyzes existing policies, procedures, and manual regarding payroll and timekeeping functions

4. Serves as liaison between Payroll and the Office of Employee Services (OES), resolving any discrepancies

5. Serves as a working supervisor

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
