Ophthalmic Technician, Ophthalmology
Position Highlights:
* Position: Ophthalmic Technician
* Location: Skokie Hospital
* Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
* Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:45am-7:00pm, in addition to rotating Saturdays
* Required Travel: Travel to other Medical Group offices in Lake County may be required
What you will do:
* Eye Exam Work Up (Following Coding compliance regulations, Medicare regulations, E/M regulations and Department Specific protocols and JCAHO
* Chief Complaint, eye medical and eye surgery history.
* Record patients near visual acuity each eye separately, with/without correction
* Lensometry of patients' spectacles for distance and near Rx indicating type of multi-focal (base curve and optical centers PRN)
* Ocular Imaging and Diagnostic Testing
* Contact Lens Services such as evaluation of fitting characteristics of soft and RGP contact lenses using slit lamp; measurement of power, base curve and diameter of RGP contact lenses; and teaching insertion and removal techniques
* Surgical Assisting (Minor surgery and Laser procedures)

What you will need:
* Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
* Certification: Certification at the COA or ABO level is required within 1 year of employment. Current CPR certifications (BLS) is required. Certification at the COT, COMT or ABOM level is encouraged
* Experience: 12 months of on the job training is required. 24 months of steady employment is preferred
