Job Description
The Lincoln Library is seeking an individual to facilitate user access to the library materials by creating original and copy catalog records for materials in all formats. Perform skilled professional library functions; use independent judgement requiring a thorough knowledge of information storage and retrieval theory, collection development, preservation and cataloging principles. Perform original, complex cataloging and copy cataloging for all formats of library materials to facilitate their identification, access and use. Assign call numbers or title/issue identifiers to materials using the Dewey Decimal Classification system or another locally instituted identification system. Input or edit bibliographic records in the local database and OCLC according to accepted state standards which include verifying names, series, and subject headings against OCLC authority files. Interpret and apply knowledge of library standards and vocabularies' including Resource Description and Access (RDA,) Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2R,) and Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH,) in cataloging and classifying materials.
