The Group:The Investment Management team guided by Morningstar's investment principles focused on delivering great long-term investment results to help end-investors reach their financial goals. We use our expertise in asset allocation, investment selection and portfolio construction to create world-class investment strategies leveraging the full resources of Morningstar. The Select Equities team manages a series of high-conviction equity portfolios that are offered as separately managed accounts to financial advisors and the investors they serve.

The Role: The Select Equities team seeks an investment analyst to contribute to the team's research process for individual companies. This investment analyst role is one level higher than our associate analyst position. We are looking for someone with a demonstrated passion for equity investing, intellectual curiosity, and excellent time management skills. This role will be based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities:
Generate company research that effectively communicates analysis of key areas such as competitive positioning, management quality, key risks, and valuation.
Assist the team's 5 portfolio managers with company analysis of holdings and watchlist companies through ad hoc requests on specific topics and scuttlebutt research.
Contribute effective and timely updates on companies previously researched, including earnings reviews and relevant updates.
Engage with analysts from Morningstar Equity Research when performing company analysis or other research projects.
Provide portfolio managers with portfolio analytics and portfolio level data for internal and external purposes.
Support portfolio managers and the trading team by summarizing timely and accurate trade instructions.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics (or related field) preferred.
Strong writing and communication skills.
CFA designation or progress in pursuing the CFA designation strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Excel and comfortable working in a quantitative environment.
Willingness and ability to develop expertise with financial software such as Bloomberg and Morningstar Direct.
2-4 years of relevant investment work experience that involves researching individual companies.
