Griffith Foods is a global manufacturer of food products. We provide a wide range of taste and texture components for food industry customers throughout the world. Our products include seasoning blends, dry mixes, coating systems, dough blends, crumbs, flavors, sauces and food bases that are used in an extensive variety of application from snack foods and processed meat and poultry to ready meals. Our customers include food processors, restaurant operators and grocery retailers. Location: Global (work out of one our Griffith R&D facilities)
Summary: Global R&D Raw Material leader responsible to lead and develop a robust portfolio of raw materials that are sustainable and nutritious that enable our 2030 Aspirations. Responsible for end-to-end ownership of the technical raw material (RM) portfolio with a global focus on innovation, optimization and simplification of raw materials across all Griffith Food categories.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Accountable for overseeing the portfolio of RM from a technical/ R&D point of view.
Leads Global R&D efforts towards achieving global impact metrics (meeting and exceeding nutrition and sustainably sourced raw material goals). Focus to include co-ordination and collaboration for the R&D function in the understanding new emerging components such as greenhouse gas and Life Cycle Analysis of our raw materials and their impact on our finished goods.
Responsible for the development and implementation of a RM portfolio of nutrition and sustainability enablers in accordance with our stated nutrition and sustainably sourced definitions.
Co-ordinate the development of the global hero ingredients initiative.
Leads Global R&D RM simplification efforts including evaluation and implementation of processes, tools and technology to aid in simplification.
R&D lead for strategic Global RM suppliers (current and future).
Global conduit to Nourish Ventures and our Partnership and Ecosystems leader to bring innovation to the RM portfolio.
Collaborates internally with all critical cross-functional groups (Purchasing, Sustainability, Commercial Teams etc.) to exchange technical and strategic information on RMs for existing and future products.
Accountable for streamlining, maintaining and safeguarding all technical information regarding RM.
Qualifications:
BSc in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Chemistry or a related science.
Must have relevant strong experience in ingredients, processing, food safety and formula design.
Minimum of 8-10 years of technical / scientific development experience.
Familiarity with Life Cycle Analysis and general understanding of sustainability and how it influences raw material selection process.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with other cross functional departments in a result-driven and team-oriented environment.
Experience in developing and collaborating with external partners and ecosystems is an asset.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently.
Effective organizational and communication skills with ability to influence and collaborate with supplier/stakeholders.
Experience working in global roles with knowledge of different markets and cultures.
Travel required 20%.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Fluent in English.
