Job Description

Position Highlights:

Location: Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, IL

Full Time/Part Time: Per Diem/PRN

Hours: 8am to 4:30pm for weekend availability

What you will need:

Requires a highschool level of communication and/or math skills but no technical training prior to hire and less than three months of previous experience plus approximately one to three months of onthejob experience.

Current CPR Certification (BLS) issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross required.

A basic level of communication skills is required in order to exchange information on factual matters, understand and transmit instructions, and perform other duties that require basic communication skills.

Work is performed under close supervision or in accordance with specific and detailed instructions or procedures.

Work requires the ability to walk or stand for an hour of more at a time, lift or carry objects weighing more than 20 pounds, push or pull laundry or supply carts, gurneys or wheelchairs, and lift and position patients.

Work conditions include working in an area that is somewhat unpleasant due to drafts, noise, temperature variation or the like, performing unpleasant laboratory or patient care duties, working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises or muscle strains, and arresting or restraining patients or others.

Work requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.

What you will do:
Under close supervision, cleans and disinfects assigned areas according to prescribed procedures. Assists in preparing equipment for patients' use, maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and equipment, and replenishes supplies as needed. Transports patients to and from department as needed and performs general clerical duties such as answering phones, taking and relaying messages, and the like. Assists in wound care and dressing applications and changes in hydrotherapy.
