The Role at a Glance

As the Tax Manager – Operations, you will research, assess, and implement tax process improvements related to tax basis maintenance in investments, reserves, reinsurance, fixed assets and more. You will ensure that new/enhanced processes are efficient, auditable and adhere to SOX controls.

What you’ll be doing

- Supports AVP to lead and direct strategic improvements for key processes within Tax

- Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

- Performs tax technical research as it relates to the specific tax adjustments and enhances Lincoln tax processes as needed

- Collaborates with members of the tax team and provides subject matter expertise and tax data support for all aspects of income tax reporting & compliance

- Participates in the estimation and/or the forecasting of complex financial impacts of tax legislative changes to the enterprise and/or its lines of business

- Provides tax impacts and results relating to the business (financial) and strategic plan; including Effective Tax Rate (ETR) forecasting.

- Participates in modeling or strategizing on tax items that could have a direct impact to capital

- Builds and enhances relationships with appropriate internal business partners and management stakeholders

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

- 5 – 7+ Years of corporate or public general tax experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of this position

- CPA preferred

- Self-starter and a problem solver who “gets things done”

- Ability to work with others in a team environment; Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.

- Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.

- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.

- Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend process improvements.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves:

- 3-5 Years in Public Accounting Firm

- Masters in Tax is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $90,300 – $164,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
