Basic Job Functions:
[[cust_safetyState]]Nucor Steel Kankakee is seeking a strong candidate for the position of Process Engineer in the Melt Shop. The successful candidate will actively assist the production team with leading operations projects, improving the process and efficiency, EAF regulation and helping troubleshoot upset conditions.
The Process Engineer will use statistical methods and data to demonstrate and help guide decision making in the shop. The successful candidate will actively be engaged with safety, cost & quality improvement efforts, and working closely with operations, maintenance and IT teams to ensure optimal melt shop performance. The Melt-Cast Process Engineer is also expected to lead the successful implementation of capital projects by formulating justifications, calculating IRR, working with contractors and suppliers to coordinate installation and commissioning to drive results.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years previous Melt Shop experience Minimum 1.5+ years previous experience in project managementPreferred Qualifications:
Previous supervisory experience Bachelors degree (preferably in Engineering or Metallurgy) Previous experience in capital projects and process optimizationMust have supervisor and manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential fuctions of thejob with or without reasonable accomodation
