Laboratory TechnicianBCForward is currently looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician at Indianapolis, IN 46268!
Position Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Indianapolis, IN 46268
Anticipated Start Date: 7/29/2024

Expected Duration: 12 Months
Job Type: [FULL TIME (>=40 HRS WEEKLY)/ [CONTRACT], [ON-SITE]
Pay Range:[$20] /hr on w2

Shift/Schedule:
Work shift 7:00am - 3:30pm Mon-Fri
Requirements:
- Self-driven individual that also works well in a diverse group setting.
- Flexibility to shift focus throughout the day as needed to meet customer demands.
- Willing to work independently and with a team as needed. Self-initiated and desire to learn
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Ability to follow directions and protocols
- Must have work experience
Description:
- With guidance from supervision, assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
- Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.
Wanted:
- Individual capable of working with insects, plant material, and nematodes while completing routine, highly detailed work.
- Previous laboratory experience preferred. Work environments vary throughout the day between laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary colonies.
- Strong culture of safety requires individuals to adhere to all safety and ergonomic standards.
- Extensive training in safety, ergonomics, and laboratory SOPs provided.
- Basic tasks may include:
- Clipping/thinning plants used in testing.
- Hands-on infesting of plant and artificial diet material with various (non-stinging, non-hazardous) insect species.
- Routine assay formulation using manual pipettes.
- Specialized assay application using hand sprayers and track sprayers.
- Laboratory maintenance (cleaning, restocking, etc.).
- Grading insect assays.
- Preparation of media used in entomology testing.
- Scribing for evaluators
