Description
Researcher will provide technical assistance and laboratory support to Dr. Cox's laboratory. Dr. Cox studies hearing loss, balance (vestibular) dysfunction, and regeneration of sensory cells (called hair cells) in the inner ear. This position will primarily support a DOD-funded grant focused on drug screening to identify compounds that induce hair cell regeneration. Specific duties will commiserate with Researcher Classification level (Researcher II, III, or IV).
 Examples of Duties

1. Perform technical experiments such as cochlear dissection, cochlear explant cultures, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and assist with data analysis
2. Assist with maintaining mouse colonies for breeding, weaning, genotyping, injections, and sample collection
3. General laboratory upkeep and maintenance including making solutions, washing dishes, autoclaving glassware and instruments, and restocking supplies.
4. Provide support to other lab members when needed.
5. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of experiments and results.
6. Attend weekly laboratory meetings and participate in discussion of the assigned paper.

 Qualifications
* Researcher II
o MA/MS degree in an appropriate field
or
o BA/BS in an appropriate field plus 2 years of relevant experience* Researcher III
o MA/MS degree in an appropriate field plus 2 years of relevant experience
or
o BA/BS in an appropriate field plus 6 years of relevant experience* Researcher IV
o PhD or MA/MS degree in an appropriate field plus 4 years of relevant experience or
o BA/BS in an appropriate field plus 8 years of relevant experienceSensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
