Job Description
Sr. Software Engineer for HERE North America, LLC. Formulate and discuss plans outlining steps required to develop programs using structured analysis and design patterns; collaborate with internal and external team members on efficiently implementing the new features to the products or enhancing the existing features; write documentation to describe program development and implementation details behind the logic, coding and corrections; resolve customer support requests; operate cloud services at scale by proactive monitoring via Splunk, Grafana, and Catchpoint, using that information to identify solutions to improve SLAs; build and launch new Microservices; train and mentor junior developers; interview potential candidates; develop distributed software application in Java for HERE’s open location platform utilizing data structures and computer algorithms; maintain Big Data streaming service on Kafka infrastructure and Cassandra database; perform containerization using Docker and Kubernetes; develop on AWS cloud-based solutions for third parties and deploy in AWS cloud environment; develop applications on Continuous Integration/Continuous Development models using scripting tools such as Linux, Shell and CI tools such as Gitlab; manage software development using Scrum and Agile methodologies; perform software test automation methodologies using Cucumber framework to ensure that applications have sufficient code coverage; and perform code review and respond to the comments using version control tools such as Git and Gitlab. Requires: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience in software development or, alternatively, a Master's degree and three (3) years of experience as noted above. Specific skills/other requirements - Experience must include (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Java programming; Python scripting; deploying within AWS cloud environment and developing AWS cloud-based solutions for third parties; containerization using Docker and Kubernetes; monitoring using Grafana and Splunk; supporting and maintaining Big Data streaming service on Kafka infrastructure; Microservices; and reading and writing from Cassandra database.
