Job Description SummaryPOSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for providing direction and support for all EH&S activities, including implementation, monitoring, and review of C&W compliance/performance.
Job DescriptionDuties and responsibilities for proposed C&W EHS Manager
Provides technical advice on EHS issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Provides professional support for EHS-related matters for facilities operations and services.
Reviews client's existing EHS framework and identifies the applicable systems to be utilized.
Aligns EHS policies with Federal/ State / Provincial laws, regulations and/or mandates.
Assists with the developed Emergency Preparedness and Response programs (including Evacuation, First Aid and AED programs).
Ensure US/ Canadian EHS compliance with statutory provisions and required documentation is completed.
Participates with Incident Investigations and implements corrective actions.
Leads and supports the use of client EHS software and technologies. - e.g. ORCs, Ecometrica
Ensures C&W, its supply chain, contractors and sub-contractors and Pearson comply with Health, Safety and Environmental law
Planning, organizing, controlling monitoring, and reviewing the Supplier and Pearson operational Safety Management System
Recommend areas to streamline systems within Pearson and C&W applications to reduce duplicate reporting
Leads and reviews sustainability systems- e.g. Ecometrica
Lead all Pearson initiatives at site level and reporting regarding sustainability in North America
Report on delivery of client's Sustainability Strategy goals
Adopt and maintain sustainability related certifications in the US & Canada
Interfacing with Pearson H&S Lead
Provide oversight and direction to Facilities Coordinators in North AmericaOther Opportunities-

Assists in running safety committees
Tracking environmental, health, and safety training
Gathers and analyzes EHS lagging and leading indicators
Improves operational and human performance
Organizes safety committees
C&W Facilities Coordinator SupportREQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor of Science degree is required. Specialization in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or Environmental Sciences is preferred.
Knowledge of corporate ESG efforts and processes preferred
Requires 5 to10 years of experience within the EHS profession.
Experience leading a team indirectly and providing EHS support to Facilities Employees supporting the client account.
Experience within Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) and client accounts is desirable.
Broad knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Health, regulations (OSHA/EPA/NFPA).
Self-motivated and able to work independently to find solutions.
Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to leverage office systems such as Microsoft Office Suite,SharePoint, etc.
The ability to travel (approximately 10%).
Candidates with Professional Certifications (CSP, ASP, etc.) are desirable.ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS* Safety Certification (CSP or CIH) preferred* Demonstrable success in Systems Management across multiple accounts/sites* Subject Matter Expertise in EHS and relevant US Standards* Well versed in OH&S legislation and regulation* Well-developed research and report writing skills* Sound Investigative and Auditing skills supported by formal trainingWORK ENVIRONMENTThis job operates in a professional office environment.
