Lead Maintenance Technician
What this job involves -
As the Lead Maintenance Technician, you will oversee and direct the maintenance personnel in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all base building and critical system machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for supervising, scheduling, and coordinating the activities of the operating team, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
What your day to day will include:
Supervising and directing the maintenance staff and monitoring their performance
Performing or directing all maintenance department service requests, ensuring efficient and clean work completion
Identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions, facilitating root cause analysis
Providing training and supervision to expand the capabilities of the operations staff
Scheduling preventative maintenance tasks and managing inventory of parts and equipment
Directing contracted maintenance work when necessary
Complying with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials
Recommending facilities repairs and improvements for the annual budget
Ensuring an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies
Desired experience and technical skills -
Requirements:
Minimum of a high school diploma
Two years of trade or vocational schooling or apprenticeship in electrical, piping/plumbing, refrigeration or HVAC
5+ years of experience in facility/plant engineering maintenance
Visual inspection skills for machinery and buildings
Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs and access difficult-to-reach areas
Proficiency in basic computer application software such as MS Office and email
Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System
Preferred:
Multi-skills in a minimum of two craft areas, including exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
Good interpersonal skills and excellent customer service skills
Effective communication skills, both oral and written reports
