Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Payroll/Timekeeping Supervisor. Under general direction, this position will plan, organize, and evaluate the statewide payroll and timekeeping system. The position will develop payroll and timekeeping policy and rules for staff, regional timekeepers, and payroll office staff and develop and deliver training. Job Responsibilities1. Serves as Payroll/Timekeeping Supervisor and program manager of the payroll and timekeeping program
2. Develops and interprets payroll and timekeeping policy and rules for staff, regional timekeepers, and payroll office staff
3. Reviews, evaluates, and analyzes existing policies, procedures, and manual regarding payroll and timekeeping functions
4. Serves as liaison between Payroll and the Office of Employee Services (OES), resolving any discrepancies
5. Serves as a working supervisor
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration
2. Requires two years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization
Of the previously noted 2 years of experience, requires that the experience include payroll and timekeeping operations and the interpretation of collective bargaining contract language relative to payroll and timekeeping policy.
Preferred Qualifications1. 2 years of professional experience managing or conducting timekeeping or payroll functions for a large public or private organization
2. 3 years of professional experience monitoring staff in a statewide program in a public or private organization
3. 2 years of experience in a public or private organizing utilizing Excel, and other Microsoft Office products (Outlook and Word)
4. 3 years of supervisory experience in a public or private organization
5. 3 years of professional experience serving in a liaison capacity with internal or external units within a public or private organization
6. 2 years of professional experience conducting training in a public or private organization
1. Requires ability to pass a background check.
2. Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
