Head Start Site Supervisor

Southern Seven Health Department is seeking applications for a regular, full time Head Start Site Supervisor based at the Vienna Head Start in Vienna, Illinois. This position does come with a benefit package, including vacation, personal, and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan.  

This position oversees the daily operation and monitoring of the center and supervises all staff assigned to the site. This position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and local and state guidelines.  

Qualifications:  The applicant must have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or an approved related degree (with at least 21 hours in Early Childhood) AND previous supervisory experience. Prefer candidate to have experience in a Head Start or an early childhood setting.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates and schedules all staff to ensure classroom ratios and site coverage based on regulations. Assigns other employees to fill in for absent employees or performs job.
  • Assures that children are supervised at all times.
  • Coordinates all staff activities and job duties including orientation, supervision, and evaluation. Follows and administers Progressive Discipline as per policy.
  • Reviews and approves all time/travel sheets and leave of absences.
  • Ensures all required documentation and reports are completed accurately and submitted to the Administrative Office on a timely basis.
  • Coordinates team interview and hiring process when vacancies are from his/her site.
  • Assists education staff in the classrooms as needed.
  • Maintains DCFS files for all employees assigned to site (s).
  • Monitors the inventory of site materials, supplies, and equipment; completes purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings and includes staff in appropriate decision making.
  • Participates in monthly Site Supervisor and Management Team Meetings.
  • Works with the Parent Coordinator (s) to assist with organizing a Parent Group and setting up meetings and activities and recruitment efforts.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the Head Start program.
