RSM's Center for Advanced Tax Technology ("CATT") is a fast-paced, high-energy, collaborative environment that also happens to be one of the fastest growing tax practice groups at RSM. The CATT team is focused on enhancing RSM US and global ability to deliver comprehensive, value-added, and efficient Tax products and services to our clients. It is a dynamic team with professionals of varying backgrounds from tax functional, tax technical, technology development, and product management. The team consults and executes on a wide range of initiatives involving process and tool development and implementation including training development, engagement management, tool design, and implementation.

JOB SUMMARY

The CATT Quality Assurance (QA) Tester fulfills a key role in RSM's SSDLC and is responsible for analysis of non-functional requirements for web-based software and APIs using structured techniques to identify testable conditions; prepare and execute performance test plans for load, stress and performance testing (including building performance test suite from scratch) and scripts ensuring alignment with standards and ensure thorough testing takes place for meeting all designated software specifications and compliance. Successful candidate is self-motivated, self-starter, goal-oriented, exhibits good problem-solving skills, and able to work with multiple development teams under tight timeframes. The QA tester must be comfortable sharing knowledge, helping to drive the overall QA team's capabilities, and working with a variety of teams (such as: database, network, and software development teams).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

FUNCTIONAL TESTER:

Works with Product Owners and BAs to understand requirements (functional and non-functional)

Creates and maintains test plan/suite of test cases (including expected and actual results), using QA test methodologies and standards.

Executes test cases; defines the steps to reproduce the issue; categorizes the defect by severity; works with the product team to determine root-cause; verifies the fix.

Automates test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Creates test cases and plans for integration and user acceptance testing.

Automates test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Summarizes test results for the Product Owner (QA reporting)

Participates and champions all agile/scrum ceremonies (or adherence to Kanban principles)

Monitors sprint burndown charts to know when to ramp up/down the team to drive quality and velocity over time

AUTOMATION TESTER:

Participates in automating test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Creates test cases for integration and user acceptance testing.

Automates test cases to achieve higher efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Summarizes test results for the Product Owner (QA reporting).

Participates and champions all agile/scrum ceremonies (or adherence to Kanban principles).

PERFORMANCE TESTER (typically performed once an individual masters the functional and automation activities):

Uses performance test software with proficiency; create and maintain performance test scripts.

Executes performance tests while generating the load, balancing it with one or multiple machines and documenting test results for improved performance and scalability.

Recommends performance test scope and strategy for load, endurance, stress, and various performance/NFR testing.

Analyzes performance results, monitor statistics, and produce relevant reports and quality metrics to provide recommendations for improvements to product teams (including response time, number of hits, throughputs, CPU utilization, database parameters, memory usage, web server resources and network traffic to verify performance).

Utilizes load, stress, and analysis tools to model performance scenarios to identify potential systems and resource bottlenecks; provide technical assistance and advice to ensure smooth system performance in the development stage.

Adheres to performance guidelines, standards and best practices and maintaining it based on performance industry standards (including test methodologies).
