Position: Radiologic Technologist II
Location: Arlington Heights, IL
Full Time
Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30pm, rotating Weekends & Holidays
Required Travel: Yes

What you will need:

1.Graduateof an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
2. CurrentARRTregistration with certification in RadiographyandIllinois Emergency Management Agency, Dept ofNuclear Safety accreditationrequired.
3. One year experience as a general radiographer with operating room experienceoran NCH student Radiologic Technologist graduate with 3 months experience in surgery/ORrequired.
4. Current CPR certification from American Heart Associationrequired.
5. Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
6. Demonstrated ability to perform numerous radiographic examinations that are required in the surgical area.
7. The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and who may be anxious or confused and to interact whit surgeons and other hospital staff.
8. The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and to determine quality of exams performed.
9. The communication skills necessary to inform patients regarding examination procedures and discuss procedure requirement with surgeons.
10. The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
11. The ability to use a computer to perform the representative functions and competencies of the job as defined by the Radiology Department.

Reporting to the Director of Radiology/Imaging with accountability to the manager and under the direction of the surgeons and the radiologists performs surgical diagnostic procedure in surgery, as needed, and other diagnostic x-ray procedures; trains and supervises students in the Surgery Department area.

1. Performs surgical diagnostic procedure examinations, as needed, including but not limited to Cholangiograms, hip pinning's, femoral rodding's, retrogrades, pace maker implants, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy, femoral bypass, etc.

2. Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures, as assigned. Explains procedures and exams to patients and provides appropriate instructions. Ensures that patients are properly prepared and prepped for various procedures prior to surgery. Positions patient for exam and applies immobilization devices, as required. Monitors patient's condition frequently during procedure; reports any change the Surgeon. Retrieves medications that are not controlled substances. Utilizes and promotes AIDET concepts for all customer interactions..

3. Assists patients from wheelchairs and stretchers on and off the surgical tables as well as diagnostic x-ray tables.

4. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients (neonatal through geriatric); implements assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient. Involves family/guardian in plan of care and conducts patient and family education, as appropriate, considering the developmental needs of the patient.

5. Participates in ensuring aseptic conditions are maintained in the Surgical room during the examination process; routinely cleans all radiographic equipment in room.

6. Processes images and checks for proper quality.

7. Reports any diagnostic equipment in surgery malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor.

8. Assists in maintaining adequate levels of supplies in work areas.

9. Supervises activities of students assigned to surgical work area and assists in appropriate training of students.

10. Participates in "on-call" rotation schedule in the Surgery area.

11. Schedules exams and maintains quality of services in the Surgery area in the absence of the Primary Lead Surgical Technologist.

12. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and reading professional journals.

13. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Moderate physical effort. Requires continuous standing or walking. Requires frequent lifting or moving of average weight material (positioning and moving equipment) and occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (transferring patients) in difficult work positions.
