Job Description
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered heavy-duty trucks, including 18-wheelers, tractor-units, semi-trailers, tankers, etc.
- Perform diagnostic tests on heavy-duty trucks for routine maintenance procedures and determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems.
- Repair malfunctioning components of heavy-duty trucks, retrofit engines, change brakes, adjust steering systems, replace worn-out parts and change hydraulic fluids.
- Use computer diagnostic equipment along with lathes, welding torches, pneumatic wrenches, hydraulic jacks, screwdrivers, pliers, mallets and precision gauges.
- Complete oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks.
- Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
- Test drive trucks before and after repairs.
- Keep shop equipment operation (maintain, troubleshoot, repair, etc.)
- Perform periodic safety inspections on truck fleet.
- Maintain safety protocol.
- Keep accurate and legible records or repairs and replaced parts.
