Job Summary

Assist the Bureau/Department staff with the development of capabilities/resource assessments and plan to aid the efficient deployment of critical assets and mass evacuation efforts during a catastrophic event. Assist with the development of emergency management plans for mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery from an "all hazards" perspective for the City of Chicago and County, State, and Federal agencies. Assist not-for-profit and private sector organizations to ensure the development of regional community approaches to emergency preparedness to address catastrophic incidents. Assist with programmatic related assessments performed by contractors of specific regional capabilities in areas such as evacuation, mass care and sheltering, logistics and resource management, mass casualty and mass fatality, special needs populations, threat and hazard identification, communications and information sharing, and medical surge. Answer questions related to emergency planning and address non-standard issues.
