Target hiring range for this position will be between $78,482 - $95,245 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Multimedia brings vision and storytelling acumen to Northwestern Pritzker School of Law's programs and products presented across all major media, content, channels, and experiences - including the development and execution of a large variety of creative, multimedia solutions to support. In this position, you'll need to have a strong creative knowledge of non-linear video editing and graphics composition, as well as knowledge of pre-production and production processes. You'll also manage and direct freelance photographers and videographers, and coordinate activity and direction with a variety of peers and colleagues across the institution.
Specific Responsibilities:
Produce innovative, creative, high-touch, high-quality, image-based multimedia solutions to support high-priority communications objectives for the Law School
Help prepare and direct comprehensive briefing documents, and coordinate and communicate strategies and status for development of deliverables.
Direct the conception, execution, production planning and organization for a wide variety of multimedia projects including photography and video.
Work closely with colleagues on the Marketing and Strategic Communications team as well as other Law School teams to ensure all content is inclusive and meets accessibility standards - as well as integrate branding and design objectives to develop visual solutions, coordinate design assets and offer support for multimedia projects across a variety of platforms (print, digital, social, online, live performance)
Responsible for receiving requests for both existing photographs from entire NU community as well as requests for photographers for Law School events, which includes identifying vendors, and coordinating with vendors and internal departments on strategy for capturing images.
Partner cross functionally to to secure video resources, including identifying vendors, and coordinating with vendor and client on strategy for capturing events.
Responsible for post-production communication and delivery of assets to client, internal teams, NU, media teams social media teams, etc.
Develop and manage comprehensive work-flow systems and procedure. Coordinate with project managers to resource, scope efforts, review budgets and adhere to milestones and deadlines.
Manage and monitor the archiving, storage and retrieval functions of a large database of critical photo and video assets and recommend and develop best practice management solutions for these platforms. Organize and maintain video, photo and graphics libraries to ensure digital assets are up to date and easily searchable, maintaining sole ownership of the tagging and archiving of images received.
Stay highly knowledgeable of current solutions, trends, innovations and best practices in multimedia creative development and execution, image creation and all image- and video-based software systems.
Help manage and monitor a multi-faceted process of scheduling and scouting of locations, stay abreast of relevant University events for coverage and documentary opportunities, help identify and suggests opportunities for content and coverage.
Stay abreast of rapidly evolving technology, media platforms and social media to enhance functionality of video and multimedia content. Help manage, create and strategically direct the Law School's brand presence and content on major video sharing platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, and on Law School-maintained web sites featuring relevant assets in both photography and video.
May require evening or weekend hours as needed to document events
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience and any other certifications or clearances)
5-7 years of experience in a professional media production environment
Baccalaureate degree required, with a concentration in journalism, photography, television production, communications, multimedia production, or related field
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge and abilities)
Proficient with videography and photography equipment, and image and sound capture
Experience working in Macintosh, networked, team-based environment to share and account for all project resources
