DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International's Chicago, IL office is seeking to hire a full-time Construction Services Department Manager to lead a talented group of construction management professionals and engineers. This role will also be responsible for the department's day to day management and operation, monitoring contractor activities, coordinating inspectors' activities, and maintaining project quality standards. This position will work on a hybrid schedule.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the department's operations through planning, delegation, execution and review of work objectives
  • Sustain and grow our Illinois Construction Services Practice while working collaboratively with the project team to achieve key operational performance metrics
  • Lead local business development pursuits and coordinate business development activities of PMs within the Department including go/no go decision inputs, client outreach and marketing, teaming arrangements, proposal development and review, and interview preparation and delivery
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the national strategy for the construction services practice, with accountability for region-specific strategies and priorities
  • Coordinate with the National Construction Services Practice Leader (CS NPL).
  • Be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional Michael Baker staff, office leadership, and CEI project managers.
  • Review the work of other professionals including QA/QC, mentoring, training, and growing staff in the performance of job duties
  • Coordinate with other Project Managers to balance workload and staffing needs
  • Assist with the resource management processes including recruitment, career development, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, and leadership development
  • Mentor and develop junior CEI Project Managers
  • Manage local business development pursuits including strategic proposal development
  • Serve as a seller-doer generating work, creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients for MBI;
  • Develop and drive marketing and business development plans, budgets, and key performance indicators
  • Develop, review, and approve proposals, reports, and contract documents in accordance with MBI policy
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits
  • Participate in industry associations representing MBI on committees and boards
  • Prepare and present articles, technical papers and presentations to industry forums and publications
  • Provides input to the annual budgetary development process
