Job Scope

+ Controllers at ADM have deep technical knowledge in order to support the company’s operations and Controlling function, in addition to having responsibilities for managing a team of highly technical and skilled colleagues. They are expected to develop and maintain good working relationships with business partners and deliver necessary technical and project-related support across the organization. Controllers must stay up-to-date on new regulations and/or standards which impact ADM, create and implement changes to comply with such regulations and/or standards, and be considered an expert in their field.

+ The NA AS&O Controller will work closely with the AS&O Operations Controllers, other regional AS&O Controllers, and other Finance leadership to drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.

+ The NA AS&O Controller is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the financial statements for the region.

Job Responsibilities

+ Ensure monthly and quarterly reporting for region is accurate and fully GAAP compliant

+ Responsible for maintenance of full and complete balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with policy

+ Enhance and maintain a strong internal and operational control environment in compliance with company policies.

+ Provide US GAAP expertise to accounting and controlling teams for the region

+ Provide leadership for continuous improvement in the areas of financial accounting, standardizing and simplifying processes, internal controls, and internal financial reporting working closely with others in the Controlling organization, Technical Accounting, Governance, Tax, and other key stakeholders.

+ Directly oversee the NA AS&O Controlling team, being responsible for hiring, people planning, talent development

+ Responsible for Accounting memos for the region

+ Provide excellent customer service to key stakeholders ensuring proper execution of controlling activities.

+ Collaborate with other leaders to identify and implement best practices across the region.

+ Support annual review/revision of Key Financial Controls (SOX requirements) and process flows and work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls.

+ Analyze financial statements and/or supporting schedules and communicate results to stakeholders.

+ Facilitate regional consolidation of financial results, disclosures requirements, Sox controls, and other reporting for customers as requested.

+ Support projects as approved to ensure standardization and simplifications of processes.

+ Drive continuous improvement through collaboration of thought, innovative ideas, and proactive behavior

Job-Specific Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting

Work Experience and Skills Required

+ 10+ years of accounting experience

+ Prior supervisory experience

+ Proficient in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and Microsoft Office Suite

+ Prior experience in managing multiple projects at one time and strong data analytics

+ Visualization and communication skills (to a wide range of audiences both technical and non-technical) is required

+ Strong functional understanding of ADM’s operating structure desired

+ Experience with Power BI and large ERP systems (e.g. JDE, SAP, etc) a plus
