Coordinator of Student Engagement

within Student Success & Engagement

Job Summary
A member of the Student Organization Development & Administration team with primary responsibilities for coordinating the Student Organization Event Registration process, Student Organization New or Re-Activating Process, Student Organization Education and Development, and providing critical support to more than one thousand student organizations. Student Engagement is a department within the Division of Student Affairs consisting of the following areas: Student Organization Development & Administration (SODA), Student Organization Finance Center (SOFC), and Student Sustainability.

Duties & Responsibilities

Student Org Administration
  • Serve as the leader in coordinating student organization event registration along with new and re-activating student organization registrations.
    • Coordinate student organization event registrations, including an independent objective review of each submission to ensure adherence to department and university policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Reviews will also apply best practices to enhance student organization administration.
    • Process New or Re-Activating Student Organization Registrations including an independent objective review of each submission to ensure adherence to department and university policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Reviews will also apply best practices to enhance student organization administration.
    • Process Student Organization Officer Updates.
    • Coordinate student organization verifications, including but not limited to member absence verifications, status verifications, and academic verifications.
    • Assist with the implementation and coordination of university-wide student organization engagement initiatives, i.e., Quad Day & Involvement Fair.
Student Org Development
  • Facilitate all required educational orientations for leadership roles within each student organization, including, but not limited to, the President Orientation, New & Re-Activating Student Org Orientation, and Event Registration Orientation.
  • Facilitate a series of optional workshops for student organizations' various administrative and developmental aspects, including, but not limited to, conflict management, diversity and inclusion, event planning, goal setting, recruitment and retention, risk management/harm reduction, hazing prevention, transitioning officer, and community engagement.
Other/Administrative
  • Perform other duties as assigned (including service on campus committees) to advance the unit, department, and division.
Minimum Qualifications


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
  • A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training, and/or work experience in coordinating projects with stakeholders across multiple areas/units.
    • (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience advising or mentoring individuals.
  • Ability to interpret policy, exercise keen judgment, and adapt to changing conditions successfully.
  • Ability to provide excellent communication and build solid relationships with campus partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple and complex priorities within a fast-paced environment where interruptions may be frequent.
  • Knowledge of student organization/engagement management software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and understanding of issues of diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to provide programmatic oversight and leadership.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and assess new and existing programs and services.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prepare and deliver presentations and external publications.
  • Strong organizational and problem-analysis skills.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/12/2024. Salary range is: $50,000 - $52,000.
