Job Description
Job Title: Biochemist II (Protein Purification)
Location: North Chicago, IL 60064 (Onsite/Hybrid)
Duration: 12 months contract
Work schedule:
• M-F 8-5.
• 4 days onsite.
Responsibilities:
• Lab testing, paper drafting,
• 60% lab work and 40% data analysis, report drafting.
• Analytical separation science CE, LC- 80% based on this.
• Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks utilizing standard procedures and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks.
• Develop protocols for more complex tests or experiments performed with less defined assays and parameters.
• Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems.
• Presents conclusions of defined experiments.
• Ensures safety requirements are met when performing tasks.
• Ensures timely compliant delivery of high-quality precise data.
Experience:
• Protein molecules.
• Experience from an academic lab of purified proteins or from a CMO with small scale protein purification to support process development.
• Experience in Protein Chromatography (SEC, Ion exchange, RPLC). Experience with a chromatography data system is a plus, but not required.
• Understanding of how to use analytical instruments including HPLC and electrophoresis for separations.
• Solid documentation skills, familiarity with electronic lab notebook a plus.
• Able to present findings to larger groups.
Top skill requirements:
• Protein Chromatography.
• Biochemical Assays.
• HPLC.
• Electrophoresis.
Preferred (but not required) skills:
• Experience in proteomics sample preparation.
• Experience in HPLC/Electrophoresis Method Development.
Education:
• BS/BA in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or related field with 2-5 yrs biochemistry lab experience or a Master’s degree. Higher qualifications can be considered for Level III.
Other notable details:
• Role is in a fast-paced research environment in support of multiple biologics programs.
• Open for candidate coming from diagnostics industry.
• Pharma experience not needed, academic work qualified.
Background successful in this role:
• Experience in protein chromatography.
