Description:

Under minimal supervision, and reporting to the Associate AD - Creative Services & Broadcasting, the Graphic Designer leads the graphic design efforts for the UIC Department of Athletics and assists in supporting the creative needs of the entire department, including athletic communications, marketing, development, ticketing, and academic units. The role will also assist in the graphic design efforts for all 18 varsity programs and athletics fields and facilities and serve as a photographer and creative content specialist for the Department of Athletics.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with athletic communications, marketing and additional external and internal departments on graphic and promotional content including programs, posters, signage, photographs and social media assets.
Continually developing the strategy and goals of UIC's graphics efforts to enhance the Flames' brand both in the city of Chicago and nationally. Meet deadlines in an efficient manner.
Work within established brand guidelines to create content through graphic design and photography that is both creative, yet consistent throughout the Department of Athletics
Create and manage templates to be used on social media by various external departments and athletic programs.
Assist with the archiving and logging of creative assets including but not limited to photos, videos, and graphics.
Stay up to date on current graphic design, creative, photography and social media trends.
Works alongside Associate AD - Creative Services & Broadcasting regarding the cost estimates from printing/ reproduction vendors, for approval.
Serve as primary point of contact for UIC's logos, design elements and other Flames branding-related assets. Consults and assists printers and typographers to ensure successful and timely completion of publicity designs.
Perform Game Day and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. Any one or any combination that equals thirty-six (36) months from the categories below1:

A. credit for progressively more advanced college or art-school course work that would lead to a major in graphic/visual arts communication and/or design

60 semester hours equals 12 months
90 semester hours equals 24 months
120 semester hours or a Bachelor's Degree equals 36 months
