Starkey is currently hiring an entry level Manufacturing Engineer I at its global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. If you are a fresh graduate with a BS degree in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or biomedical looking to launch your engineering career with a company that grows it's engineers, and have a drive to learn and develop relationships this could be your opportunity. In this role, the engineer ensures that product designs align with business goals by implementing robust manufacturing processes. Key responsibilities include improving manufacturing efficiencies, facilitating changes to existing processes, and maintaining product quality. This position is responsible for ensuring product designs are achieving business goals by effectively implementing robust manufacturing processes and supporting continuous improvement into manufacturing. Must have a strong understanding of design or engineering a product in order to facilitate change(s) of a new or current manufacturing process that will improve our manufacturing efficiencies. Must have strong communication skills, technical drive, persistence, and team building skills focused on maintaining a quality product. The person in this position will be responsible for fixing potential problems during all product development phases, continuation, and end of life to support the designs that are recognized as best- in-class in the hearing aid industry.
Approach and Deployment
Develop, validate and implement new and improved processes, fixtures, equipment, and technology for new products.
Partner with Quality Engineering to identify and implement ongoing quality improvements.
Represent Manufacturing Engineering (voice of manufacturing) to other development teams within R&D, Quality, and Site Engineering.
Act as technical manufacturing lead on sustaining Engineering Projects
Support and provide input for DFM improvements through Program / Project charters and system requirements specifications.
Qualify and validate new and improved processes, fixtures, equipment, and technology for manufacturability.
Continually improve the manufacturing processes of our custom, standard, and accessory products.
Results
Product & Process improvements with reduced rework and scrap in manufacturing. (Internal rework and warranty repair rates).
New product manufacturing processes meets Starkey's quality standards and launch on time.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or equivalent work experience required.
Experience:
Relevant experience in a product development and manufacturing environment required; hearing industry or medical device industry experience preferred.
Knowledge
Knowledge of new product development systems required.
Knowledge of process validation required.
Knowledge of relevant product development methods and best practices (i.e. DMAIC, PFMEA, Lean, DOE, etc.).
Experience solving advanced technical problems.
Experience managing multiple projects, simultaneously.
