Position Details
Grainger is a broad line, business-to-business distributor of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) supplies and other related products and services. More than 3.2 million businesses and institutions worldwide rely on Grainger for products such as safety gloves, ladders, motors, and janitorial supplies, along with services like inventory management and technical support. These customers represent a broad collection of industries including commercial, government, healthcare, and manufacturing. They place orders online, on mobile devices, through sales representatives, over the phone and at local branches. Approximately 5,000 suppliers provide Grainger with more than 1.6 million products stocked in Grainger's distribution centers and branches worldwide.

The Manager of Application Administration & Operations will drive innovation across the business functions to achieve operational excellence and provide a competitive advantage through the execution of IT Service management practices (Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Event, Configuration). They will lead and direct day-to-day activities performed through our managed service providers.

You Will

Lead all delivery aspects of a Managed Services Provider.

Manages daily operations (24 x 7) and monitors the service components with vendors, meeting service level agreements and vendor maintenance contracts.

Identify operational bottlenecks, performance and security issues, gaps in the core infrastructure.

Ensure comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and reporting of our systems with an eye towards continuous improvement and automation.

Provides communications among teams, other IS personnel, business partners, and external resources.

Initiates, monitors, and in some cases, negotiates and controls contracts with vendors.

Manages staff through Performance Excellence processes including coaching and feedback, career development, performance reviews, performance improvement objectives, rewards and recognition, salary and promotional reviews.

You Have

5+ years' experience managing in Service Center, Operations Center, and/or IT Administration environment.

Knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software and understand the dependencies between the different modules and legacy systems.

Working knowledge of at least one or more of the following areas: R/3, CRM, SRM - EBP, Enterprise Portal, Workflow, FSCM, SEM, APO, DART, XI, Warehouse Management (SAP EWM, SAP WM or Manhattan)

Deep understanding of IT performance management concepts and practices

Understanding the application development and support environments, including an awareness of trends and directions in emerging technologies.

Practical, proven project management or supervisory experience.

Solid understanding of the Performance Excellence process including goals alignment, career development, P&D, coaching and feedback.

ITILv3 Foundation certification preferred

Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent related experience
