POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager position will supervise, direct, and review the work of the Financial Services department accounting staff in order to assist in the maintenance of a complete and systematic set of records. The position will apply technical knowledge and expertise to processes and procedures and ensure that the accounting function remains in compliance with board policies and procedures, granting agency requirements, and federal and state laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Formulate, interpret, and implement accounting processes, procedures and internal controls to ensure the College's financials are operating in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
2.Manage, direct, and review the workload of the accounting staff in order to maintain a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the college. Manage accounting related business process enhancement efforts by identifying and addressing areas that need improvement in order to improve financial operations and customer service. This position will oversee the maintenance of process documentation for all accounting related functions and ensure adequate cross training and professional development among accounting staff. This position must maintain strict confidentiality of employee records, payroll detail and other sensitive information.
3.Analyze financial data which includes developing forecasts, plans, processes, reports, statements, recommendations and ensuring accuracy of the financial data.
4.Accountable for the fiscal administration of all federal, state and private source grant programs. This includes interpreting, formulating, and implementing procedures to comply with government regulations, donor requirements, college policies, and applicable laws and federal restrictions. This position will work directly with college grant writers and grant managers to develop budgets and grant applications. The position will also serve as a liaison with program monitors and evaluators during periodic audits.
5.Oversee the process, schedule, and reconciliation of grant related fund requests in order to maximize institutional cash flow.
6.Review auxiliary operation processes and procedures as needed and be able to identify process and internal control weaknesses and suggest improvements. Oversee state tax filing and month and year end auxiliary account reconciliation.
7.Direct the workflow of the capital asset lifecycle and assist in developing best practices, internal controls and adequate safeguards.
8.Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports including project status reports.
9.Oversee special projects and assist in ensuring department milestones and goals/objectives are met.
10.Assist as needed with budget development and the budget control process.
11.Provide assistance during the College's month end and year end closing processes. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and reports as needed.
12.Attend seminars as needed to keep current with issues related to college financial issues and job duties.
13.Perform other related duties as assigned.
