Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution?of?Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement?and the?design and?manufacture?of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

The Senior Manager, Production is responsible for the managing the day-to-day operations of all shifts for the East Peoria Undercarriage Assembly Operations team.

What You Will Do:

+ Supervising assembly operations across all three (3) shifts for the facility. Providing clarity and direction to support team to meet overall production goals.

+ Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean production environment.

+ Determine processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling, and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements.

+ Daily tie-in with production management to designate workload, priorities, and sequence for work assigned.

+ Ensures training and effective utilization of workforce.

+ Determines overtime need and determines priorities when resources are insufficient.

+ Evaluate performance of team members, provide coaching for performance development improvement, and conduct progressive disciplinary procedures as required.

+ Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.

+ Ensures the quality of product produced and conformity to the standards of the Caterpillar Quality Management System and Built in Quality program while also ensuring that the requirements documented within manufacturing control plans and standard work are understood and adhered too.

+ Implement various corporate initiatives such 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS/ISO certifications, etc.

+ Training and development of staff, attendance tracking, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, and ensuring consistent application of organizational needs.

+ Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

+ Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.

+ Monitors organizational adherence to policies and procedures.

+ Facilitates communications across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the plant or facility.

+ Evaluates the risks and safety hazards present in manufacturing operations.

+ Supervises daily operations to ensure production targets and forecasts are achieved.

+ Employs tools and techniques for anticipating demand and assuring capacity.

+ Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities for the safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.

+ Consults on the use of new tools and techniques for safety protection.

+ Performs safety inspections.

+ Designs and implements emergency response processes and procedures.

+ Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.

+ Assesses and reports unusual or new safety hazards or violations; initiates corrective action.

+ Ensures that all employees comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):

+ Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

+ Prior experience working within an extended value stream methodology with cross departmental collaboration among Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance.

+ Previous experience with Undercarriage product and component manufacturing or other assembly areas.

+ Previous leadership experience in a Team Lead or Supervisory role in Machine Shop Operations, Assembly Operations, or Quality Operations.

+ Ability to work outside of core normal work hours, including overtime and alternative shifts as needed.
