Job Summary:

As the AMT Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership over the heat treat installations (~11) in East Peoria (Bldg BB/HH/LL). The primary responsibility(s) of this position is to provide oversight of the advanced equipment used to heat treat components used within our structures, transmission, and undercarriage products.

What You Will Do:

The HT Engineering Manager will have close interaction (full partnership) with local facility, operations, and EHS managers to proactively manage the operation metrics critical to the facility (PQVC). This includes facilitation of weekly meetings with leadership on metrics and improvement opportunities. The primary objective of this individual is to deliver world-class processes/quality, equipment work instructions, standard work, and training manufacturing (~40 operators). This individual will also contribute to the delivery of new processes and products to the facility.

Degree Requirement:

Requires a BS/MS degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, or Metallurgical Engineering and experience with heat treat technologies including induction and direct hardening.

What Skills You Will Have:

+ Foster positive culture for this team of engineers (~5) and technicians (~3) and operations partners (>100)

+ Maintain instructions, standard work, and training to achieve injury-free environment/culture (RIF<0.50)

+ Lead initiatives to aid with improvements aligned with facilities leadership goals

+ Deliver process that can meet quality standards (Internal <$4 scrap/m-hr & 50PPM External)

+ Coordinate metallurgical and dimensional integrity of components with respective laboratories

+ Manage $1.8M budget for expenses, manpower, and testing related costs

+ Coordinate advanced troubleshooting (24X7) of heat treat related systems

+ Manage durable tooling and other auxiliary expenses for heat treat value streams

+ Manage the creation and support of equipment startup and emergency shutdown procedures

+ Leverage data streams (analytics) that proactively monitor and help with reaction to process deviation

+ Oversee accuracy and reliability of the part specific recipes (~600 active)

+ Coordinate / validate of NCI and NPI efforts

+ Provides expertise and input to the design, procurement, and validation large-scale capital improvement plans throughout furnace and other equipment lifecycles ($2-5M annually)

Capacity Planning & Management – MFG:

- Works with Engineering to plan resource and capacity requirements for products under development.

- Creates consolidated forecasts for multiple product lines and production facilities.

- Advises on multiple cycles of short- and long-term capacity planning for product or site.

- Compares and contrasts alternative approaches and tools for capacity planning.

- Translates demand forecasts into production and capacity requirements.

Manufacturing Equipment:

- Monitors methods and requirements for equipment environment to ensure protection against damage.

- Participates in evaluation and selection of new equipment.

- Ensures that employees are qualified to operate equipment effectively and safely.

Manufacturing Processes:

- Leads discussions on the history and evolution of manufacturing processes.

- Oversees all activities for the organization’s manufacturing environment; establishes best practices and policies.

- Leads evaluation of accuracy and effectiveness of documented processes versus actual operations.

- Champions the use of new and emerging manufacturing processes and methodologies.

Manufacturing Safety:

- Leads in interpreting and applying safety and regulatory information throughout the company.

- Leads discussions about the latest research in industrial safety for manufacturers.

- Mentors others in monitoring safety performance vis-a-vis company objectives and industry benchmarks.

- Educates others in all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA).

- Designs, develops or deploys company safety policies and practices across multiple functions.

Additional Information

The location for this position is East Peoria, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position will require less than 10% travel.
