Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE) (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T6001000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard. Responsibilities As a PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE) (TITLE 5), GP-0602-14, you will plan, schedule, execute, manage, and administer installation-wide medical management, including aerospace and operational disposition and to provide critical clinical judgment for medical case management to promote and maintain the health and well-being of assigned Air National Guard personnel. Administer comprehensive clinical medical and physical assessments and preventative medical services. Work independently and exercise sound judgment in accordance with the methods and practices of the medical profession and established medical and administrative policies. Perform comprehensive medical assessments including, but not limited to, annual preventative health pre- and post-deployment interviews, mental and deployment health assessments. Perform preplacement, occupational health, and separation health physical exams. Perform fitness for duty evaluations, fly waivers, line-of-duty, and medical continuation determinations. Prepare comprehensive narrative summaries by reviewing all comprehensive medical records/referrals while ensuring accuracy, conciseness, and appropriateness. Analyze and identify trends in medical assessments through review, comparison, and interpretation against complex medical standards, policies, and laws. Provide expert clinical decision making and medical dispositions on a wide range of illnesses and injuries relating to fitness questionnaires. Protect personal from military-related exposures by applying extensive medical knowledge and complex occupational and environmental health methodologies. Coordinate consultations with other subject matter experts to assist in interpretation of abnormal studies and discuss the findings with primary care medical providers or consulting specialists. Research medical documentation, evaluate complex patient diagnoses, and use sound judgment when interpreting complex medical standards, codes, guidelines, policies, and regulations to finalize medication recommendations. Provide expert medical advice and guidance for safety investigations and compiles clinically relevant medical summaries and/or medical records for safety investigations. Interpret laboratory and other ancillary tests related to individual medical readiness, including, but not limited to electrocardiogram, laboratory, and radiologic studies. Serve as medical authority within an organization when working with Federal, State, and local agencies on matters related to aerospace medicine, preventative medicine, personnel reliability, and occupational medicine. Oversee professional medical personnel and provide expert advice on the preparation of reports, directives, correspondence, after action reports, and memoranda pertaining to health services programs. This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. Requirements Conditions of Employment Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. IAW The Fair Chance Act, Agency employees may not request criminal history information at the point of initial application, upon receipt of an application, or prior to, during or after a job interview. If an Optional Form (OF) 306, Declaration of Employment is submitted prior to the point of a conditional offer, questions related to background information section may not be asked. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Subject to provisions of DoD Priority Placement Program. Must be board-certified in a Primary Care Specialty Physicians License required. Must maintain current state licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or other name specialties. Subject to Random Drug Testing. Must possess knowledge of DoDI 6130.03, March 20, 2018 Medical standards for Appointment, Enlistment, or Induction into the Military services. This is a Key Emergency Essential Position. Inclement Weather position. May be required to report for or remain on duty during inclement weather. Temporary Duty Travel may be required. May be required to participate in contingency readiness exercises, major accident response exercises, and investigations. Required to file OGE Form 450, Confidential Statement of Affiliations and Financial Interests. Designated Essential Personnel subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster. Designation won’t exceed 14 days per year unless otherwise approved by TAG. May require rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call duty hours. Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination required. Applicants tentatively selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations before appointment. Recruitment and relocation incentives may be available for this position. Qualifications Qualifications To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements: Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Copies of Official transcripts MUST be uploaded electronically with application.) OR Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.(Copies of Official transcripts MUST be uploaded electronically with application.) AND Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. NOTE: ALL applicants MUST electronically upload a copy of current, active, full and unrestricted license as a Physician, and proof of successful completion of an accredited graduate training internship, fellowship, or residency program for verification at the time you apply. AND Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.
