We will be building and operating a high precision, high volume, fast passed, and highly automated test laboratory supporting the rapid characterization of new materials for the Department of Defense. This position will be providing the necessary skills to troubleshoot, install, build, calibrate, and tune furnaces as well as conduct repairs, preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

+ Diagnose problems for combustion, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment using a variety of test procedures; and dismantle replace defective parts, reassemble, and test.

+ Work from quality procedures, customer specifications, industry specifications, machine manuals, and instructions from Group Leader, Supervisor, and Service Technicians.

+ Understand and work with wiring diagrams and schematics.

+ Install and modify equipment in accordance with code and specification requirements.

+ Perform calibrations, testing, tuning, and preventive maintenance as required by specifications and procedures.

+ Maintain accurate documentation of tests and calibrations and prepare appropriate reports.

+ Update test and testing procedures via manuals or computer systems (MasterControl)

+ Assist during installation of new equipment and retrofits of existing equipment.

+ Provide support for startup of new equipment.

+ Complete production timecards ensuring that accurate records are maintained.

+ Schedule preventative maintenance, testing, and calibration with appropriate production personnel.

+ Communicate production and equipment problems to appropriate personnel.

+ Assist in the installation of refractories and setup dry out of castable refractories.

+ Maintain forklift and crane certifications.

+ Assist in the continuous improvement procedures, methods, and training and provide hands on technical assistance in the development and implementation of improved controls and other engineering projects as directed.

Closing Statement:

+ This position is required to be on call at a minimum once monthly.

+ Proper use of all appropriate PPE is mandatory.

+ This position will work under the direction of the department supervisor and the Flex labor manager. This position may be required to learn/develop additional skills to flex to other departments/locations/shifts in order to service the business needs and meet customer expectations.

+ Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.

+ Perform all maintenance duties following lockout/tagout and fall protection procedures where required.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

+ High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.

+ Preferred 2-year Associates or equivalent program pursuing a degree in; mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance.

+ 5 years’ experience in a heavy industrial maintenance.

+ Proficiency on Computer (Microsoft applications)

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. On occasion while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat (air temperatures reach over 100 degrees F). The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, in wet and/or humid conditions, or near fumes, airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals. When in the area of production, noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
