Job Description
The Managing Director, Project and Process Excellence, provides critical staff support and direction to enable BCBSA's operational effectiveness. Partnering with internal business owners, the role provides dedicated business analysis and project management in support of the Association's critical, cross-functional initiatives. The role also facilitates annual business planning and project performance measurement, governance engagement and leadership reporting. Across all accountabilities, the role adheres to, promotes and advances business process excellence and continued process improvement.
Business Analysis. Partners with business owners to ensure optimal objectives setting and project scoping of BCBSA's most important strategic initiatives. Develops well-structured, customer-centric business requirements and documentation that put BCBS Plan needs first and ensures that the business owner and all internal stakeholders are aligned toward shared, realistic and impactful objectives.
Project Management. Provides hands-on project management for large-scale, complex and high-profile initiatives by building realistic work roadmaps, tracking and ensuring adherence to allocated resources (i.e., funding, time and staff), and anticipating and identifying risks in a timely manner. Monitors progress and holds teams accountable for meeting milestones. Troubleshoots variances and other challenges and proposes practical solutions to the business owner and project team.
Process Management, Reporting and Improvement. Partners with business owners in developing, monitoring and managing consistent business performance measurement processes, including Objectives and Key Results and RACI models. Designs and maintains consistent, effective reporting tools and supports VP Strategic Execution and business owners in pacing executive leadership and preparing Governance deliverables. Proactively identifies inefficiencies, proposes alternatives and champions continuous improvement.

Relevant job experience in project management, business analytics and/or process improvement
Supervisory and/or project management experience
Skills
Familiarity with different project management principles, techniques and tools
Demonstrated knowledge in business analysis and development of business requirements
Superior analytical skills to support quality decision making in support of projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate, persuade and make effective presentations to varying audiences internal and external to BCBSA
Proven ability to exert influence in a matrix environment by working across diverse business functions and building strong and productive relationships
Outstanding interpersonal skills including ability to gain stakeholder support, manage competing viewpoints, and lead difficult conversations
Experience with and knowledge of U.S. health payer industry, ideally within the BCBS System and its member plans is preferred
Familiarity with common business process management methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma) is preferred
