Position Highlights:

Position: Linen Attendant

Location: Chicago, IL

Full Time

Hours: Nights, 9pm-5:30am

What you will do:
Reporting to Environmental Services Operations Manager, coordinates the daily activities and responsibilities of the team in preparing hospital linen to be transported and/or sterilized for hospital use of Linen Services. Performs Linen Par level inspections to ensure customer service quality standards are being achieved and maintained by Linen Services Department.

Coordinates and evaluates the workflow activities of the Linen staff in assigned areas; Conducts documented par level & quality inspections upon Manager's request. Interacts positively with internal and external customer by addressing concerns and issues, while tracking calls to minimize trends.

Serves as a role model for Linen Services employees by stressing, through example, teamwork, personal enthusiasm, pride in work, a positive customer service minded attitude and efficiency. Communicates with other coordinators and shifts to ensure information is exchanged and any concerns are resolved and customer service standards are achieved and maintained.

Performs all the duties of a team member in their assigned area, i.e. Linen Aide, and fills in open schedules.

Provides assistance to the Manager with training and education of the new and current employees in infection control, cleaning techniques, etc. in accordance with department policies. Provides input to the Manager in staff evaluations.

Reports repairs, painting, or refurbishing needs in all areas of the hospital to appropriate department.

What you will need:

The interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact, and motivate Linen Services employees and other hospital staff.

The organizational skill necessary to effectively coordinate workflow activities and schedule staff.

The written and verbal communication skills necessary to document repairs and relay information to appropriate departments.

The ability to work independently.

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Previous hospital experience preferred.

Experience with all cleaning and safety procedures, pertaining to Environmental Services positions required.

Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.

Knowledge of Control Tex (Linen par Level) system preferred, the ability to learn to use the system within 6 months of hire is required.

Requires moderate physical effort. Requires continuous standing and walking. Requires frequent lifting/moving of average weight material (30-50 lbs.), and occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material in difficult work positions.
