Tyson is currently in the process of expanding our operations in Caseyville with an $181 million dollar investment to add 7 new state of the art production lines to our current 4 production lines. With automated warehousing and robotics at the heart of this expansion the facility will be a Flagship of the Prepared Foods division. The facility currently produces Jimmy Dean and Hillshire branded retail products and the expansion will further develop our capabilities.
This is for the B Shift Schedule.
Brief Job Summary:
The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for operation, inspection, and repair of Industrial Refrigeration systems in a Frozen Food Manufacturing Environment in accordance with local, state and federal building codes. Technicians must abide by all required safety regulations, while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assist in maintaining documentation for RMP within the limits set by the EPA.
2. Troubleshoot, maintain and manage both Commercial HVAC and Industrial Freon systems.
3. Read and interpret schematics, P&ID drawings, Blueprints, and flow diagrams.
4. Oversee contractor worker(s) on larger repairs as necessary.
5. Strong aptitude for troubleshooting mechanical/electrical issues
6. Awareness and knowledge of surroundings in relation to climate atmosphere, and equipment.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
1. 6 months work experience within the last 12 months to be considered for this position.
2. 3 - 5 years Industrial HVAC and refrigeration experience; two or four year college degree desired
3. Must have experience and strong knowledge of Risk Management and applicable EPA regulations
4. Within one year of employment, technician will need appropriate certifications to purchase Freon and charge systems
5. Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and refrigeration instructions and procedure manuals.
6. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence
7. Must be able to work independently and part of a team
8. Ability to handle multiple and complex tasks
9. Must have effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
10. Must be willing to complete all required training for the job
11. Must be able to stand for the duration of shift
12. Able to lift 50 pounds

Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to do the following:
1. Work near moving mechanical parts.
2. Be exposed to wet or humid conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat.
3. Work where the noise level is usually moderate to high.
4. Required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
5. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance of other employees.
6. Work from a ladder or a man lift at heights greater than 20 feet
Work Schedule: Traditional 2nd shift, some weekend work may be required or a rotating schedule where technicians work (3) 12 hour days one week and (4) 12 hour days the next week (alternating a 3 day weekend every-other week). Occasional weekend work and overtime is required.
