Overview

The Manager of Employee Health and Absence Programs is responsible for managing and overseeing the leave of absence, time off, and employee health functions of the organization. This position is responsible all day to day and special project management of the teams.
Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees and coordinates the Absence and Employee Health staff and day to day operations of these teams.
Manages the Workers Compensation program and tracks injuries system-wide
Works with WC Insurance carriers to process and settle claims
Tracks and trends work related injuries, and looks for processes to reduce the number of injuries
Completes the OSHA logs and government posting requirements
Coordinates Fitness for Duty evaluations system-wide
Oversee the annual Influenza vaccination initiative, reviews compliance across the system, communicates with leadership and HR teams to reach compliance, and reviews medical and religious exemptions as needed.
Assists in responding to absence programs and Employee Health questions from partners.
Works with the Absence and Employee Health teams to document processes and work through process improvement
Builds and reconfigures Workday as needed to meet Absence and Employee Health program demands
Provides guidance for the Absence and Employee Health teams as needed when working with vendors, leadership partners, partners, and HR partners.
Remains up to do on Absence and Employee Health laws and regulations to ensure Mercyhealth remains compliant and is aware of upcoming necessary changes.
Participates in open enrollment process to educate partners on any benefit changes impacting Mercyhealth's absence programs.
Partners with various Mercyhealth departments such as Payroll, Occupational Medicine, Infection Prevention, Pharmacy, and DTS on a regular basis to accomplish cross-departmental initiatives.
Responsible for maintaining the Absence and Employee Health budgets on an ongoing basis.

Education and Experience

Supervisory experience preferred. Employee Health, Workers Compensation, Fit for Duty, ADA, and Absence program experience preferred.
Bachelors degree in nursing, human resources, management, or other relevant field required.

Skills and Abilities

Must have the ability to work collaboratively with partners, multidisciplinary health care providers and insurer and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and handle difficult situations in a professional manner. Detail oriented and capable of exploring innovative solutions to solve complex problems and address issues through the use of a combination of delivered and custom-developed tools. Ability to us Microsoft Office software including email, Word and Excel. Ability to compile, code and categorize or verify information-data. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
