The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria (UICOMP) seeks a candidate for the position of Division Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology. This will be an academic appointment at the level of Associate/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. The candidate must hold or be eligible for an Illinois physician license, hold MD/DO or equivalent degree and be BC/BE in Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Position Summary

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric gastroenterologist with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Division Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Duties & Responsibilities

Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and other health care professionals.
Develop & conduct clinical and/or basic research in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology.
Perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling and administration.
Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services.
Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Gastroenterology to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients.
To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division.
Provide care for patients with gastrointestinal, liver and nutrition disorders and consultation and support to other services.
Collaborate with nursing leadership, dietetic services, psychologists, and other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care.
Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration.

Minimum Qualifications

MD/DO degree or foreign equivalent.
Eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois
Board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology
Preferred Qualifications

Proven leadership credentials and track record of developing clinical programs in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition.
Strong background in clinical/translational research

The Department has a well-established research infrastructure to foster research in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in pediatric gastrointestinal disorders.
