Federal Signal has an immediate opening for an Operations Supervisor at our University Park, Illinois facility. This position will be responsible for researching, developing and formalizing strategic operational plans that affect the manufacture, transfer and distribution of products to customers. They will also be accountable for planning, scheduling and supervising personnel, activities, equipment, and material to ensure that all customer orders are delivered on a timely basis.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment through Manufacturing efficiency initiatives, current safety programs, and enforcement of all safety regulations.
  • Ensure that process and procedures are followed and updated to maintain the quality standards needed to meet ISO and SQDC objectives.
  • Responsible for activity dates, print distribution and implementation of Engineering changes on the manufacturing floor.
  • Manages and evaluates inventory planning and control activities (e.g., master scheduling, forecasting, inventory control and Manufacturing initiatives).
  • Develops, maintains and revises all key operational reports that support all strategic goals and objectives for the department.
  • Works with the Operations Manager to develop key reporting measures on all critical operational issues.
  • Provides supervisory direction to assigned departments/individuals.
  • Address and improve Ergonomic issues that may reside within areas of responsibility.
  • Work with Operations Manager on shipping logistics for all large sales orders.
  • Attend order release and project meetings, sign SMVs and help the production floor personnel to implement those SMVs during product build and test.
  • Work with Customer Care and Quality to ensure that returned goods materials are dispositioned correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Applied Sciences required (Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of Production Supervisory experience required.
  • 5 + years of knowledge in a computerized environment of material requirement planning, bills of material structure, and their impact on inventory and master scheduling preferred.
  • Must be a good communicator, work well with people, and be able to work in a fast paced, continually changing/improving environment.
