The Accountant I supports the financial functions of the Materials Distribution Center (MDC) function of the Materials Management warehouse and provides backup to the Physical Plant and Heating Plant departments. This employee must interact positively with co-workers, tradespeople, vendors, departments, and other university personnel. Quality customer service and satisfaction are essential.
Position Summary
The Accountant I reports to the Accountant II for Physical Plant. The employee in this position works closely with the Director and Assistant Director(s) of the Physical Plant, MDC, and Materials Management staff and the Business/Administrative Associates for Campus Services, Facilities Management, and Facilities Management & Campus Services; and interacts with all staff in the Physical Plant, Heating Plant and Architectural/Engineering Services on a routine basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES FOR PHYSICAL PLANT


Answer phones and direct foot traffic. Submits monthly mileage logs. Maintain Foreman vacation calendar.
Process HR bi-monthly payroll. Assists and provides backup support to Heating Plant and Grounds for bi-monthly payroll and HR paperwork when needed. Process HR paperwork in PeopleAdmin for Hiring and Terming of employees
Responsible for issuing, tracking, and reconciling parking permits for contractors, vendors, or other personnel doing business for the Physical Plant.
Take minutes for the monthly Physical Plant Safety meeting. Attend the meetings in person or through Teams, write the meeting minutes from notes and recordings using Word, and distribute them to meeting attendees.


ACCOUNTING DUTIES FOR MATERIALS MANAGEMENT (MDC)
