Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Client Services Supervisor, the Financial Aid Advisor Coordinator will review and certify all student loan records for the Evanston undergraduate population, including federal, private, and institutional loan programs. The individual will also provide information and counseling to students and parents regarding the financial aid programs, University financial aid policies and federal regulations. The position will also be responsible for assisting in the office's outreach efforts and coverage of the front desk and phone lines in the absence of the receptionist.
Specific Responsibilities:
Review, certify and monitor all student loan applications and related reports, including performing federal loan reconciliation and reviewing loan disbursement errors for all populations of students across the university.
Assist with the administration of the Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid's email account. Respond to email inquiries and provide general counseling.
Review and certify student loan adjustment requests from students and staff. Advise students on federal and private loan options based on changes in status, including changes in enrollment and eligibility
Assist with the administration of the Financial Aid Office and Financial Wellness websites. Maintain existing content and create new content as needed.
Assist coverage of the office's front desk and main phone line when needed and in counseling of students, one on one and in group sessions about federal and university financial aid policies and procedures, as well as the loan programs and financial literacy-related topics.
Assist with resolving federal aid application issues. Contact students to coordinate resolution, collect documents to satisfy federal requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
A bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
Some understanding of the federal financial aid process.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Outgoing individual with excellent communication skills.
Attention to Detail- Consistently displays accuracy and attention to detail
Computer Proficiency- Successfully uses multiple software programs independently. Software may include Microsoft Office, applications such as PeopleSoft, Word, Excel, and Access, email, web browsers and PeopleSoft.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
A bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
Some understanding of federal financial aid and federal student loans.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $22.50-$24.50 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
