Job Description

State Farm (Bloomington IL) seeks a Lead Software Developer to create and design Enterprise APls for internal and external State Farm Customers. Specific duties include: work independently to design, develop, implement, test, and support products for business areas (creating new or modifying existing applications/tools to meet technical specifications or business needs) (5%); maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in software engineering topics, including classes, functions, security, containers, version control, Cl/CD, and unit tests (10%); learn and train team members on use new Cloud technologies and popular programming languages (10%); apply skills, tools, security processes, applications, environments and programming language(s) in AWS, python and NodeJS to complete complex assignments (70%); and maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in programming (e.g. Java, JavaScript), and database functionality (e.g. SQL, Non-SQL) (5%). Must take and pass pre-hire CodeVue coding test. Option to work in a hybrid environment with required travel to local office at least once a quarter and as needed. Must live within 180 miles of Bloomington, IL office.

 

Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, 5 years of experience in the job offered, as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or similar software programmer or application developer position. Specific experience must include: using programming languages, including Python, Java, NodeJS, and SQL, to complete complex assignments; working with AWS; working in compute environments, including Linux, Hadoop, Mainframe, Public Cloud, and containers; working with AngularJS, HTML, Java, JavaScript libraries & frameworks, CSS, JSON, and NODEJS; working with Spring Framework, REST Webservices, SOAP web services, Maven, GIT, Bash Scripting; working with MySQL and H2 databases; using Agile methodologies; working with Cl/CD pipelines services and related frameworks; providing mentorship, technical guidance, and training to others. Must take and pass pre-hire CodeVue coding test. Option to work in a hybrid environment with required travel to local office at least once a quarter and as needed. Must live within 180 miles of Bloomington, IL office.
