About the Role:
We are looking for a strategic, National Business Development/Sales Leader for our emerging Energy Transition and Sustainability practice. This role is a key part of Weston's growth strategy to expand our Energy Transition and Sustainability offerings to our clients. Additionally, this role will support the continued development of our electrical vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure offering.
Location:Nationwide (Preferred Chicago, IL Metropolitan Area or Hartford/New Haven, CT Area)
Essential roles and responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership in developing long-term client relationships, building sales pipeline, partnering with operations to ensure high-quality project delivery, and to grow the capacity of the required teams to deliver against agreed-upon practice targets.
Serve as an internal and external SME on various sustainability topics:
Sustainability/ESG reporting
Circular economy
Science-based targets
Certifications
Materiality assessments
Data collection/analysis/management
Carbon reporting and lifecycle assessments
Drive development and growth:
Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, and drive results.
Lead internal and external messaging.
Collaborate with operations on large sustainability opportunities and projects.
Assist in staff recruiting and mentoring of project staff.
Maintain flexibility in a continuously changing and fast-paced environment.
Translate highly technical information so that non-technical decision makers can understand risks and opportunities related to sustainability projects and Weston's offering.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, environmental law, planning or related technical field. Master's Degree preferred.
10+ years' experience in sustainability or environmental regulatory compliance consulting, strategy, reporting, project design and implementation in a leadership position.
Broad understanding of current sustainability topics including decarbonization, climate resilience, zero waste planning, circular economy, ESG / climate reporting, and emerging technologies.
Stay current on applicable environmental laws and regulations.
Experience with sustainability frameworks and standards, including GHG Protocol, UN SDGs, IFRS/SASB, GRI, and others.
Highly collaborative and willing and able to work with many stakeholders.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employee-owners, clients, and community leaders.
Growth mindset with 5+ years' of demonstrated success in business development and proposal development.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
Salary Range: $135,900 - $181,100 - $226,400
