Position Summary
The Clinical Nurse Consultant II is accountable for facilitating the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Clinical Nurse Consultant II provides patient care and consultation, coordinates the educational development of staff members and acts as a role model in clinical practice. The CNCII strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Clinical Nurse Consultant II participates in monitoring, developing, and evaluating nursing practice while fulfilling unit and organizational goals.

Duties & Responsibilities
Participates in the planning and coordination of nursing activities of various clinical services, designs and conducts studies to define the scope of nursing responsibilities in a clinical area.
Assists the nursing staff in a clinical service to develop effective nursing care plans by conducting studies of existing patient care programs, identifying deficiencies, and developing appropriate remedial educational programs.
Analyzes and outlines factors peculiar to the achievement of effective performance in a specialized clinical service, establishes performance standards for classes of nursing personnel in a clinical area.
Identifies the need for and developing improved methods and techniques, demonstrates nursing care methods and techniques peculiar to a specialized clinical service.
Provides guidance to professional nursing staff in establishing continuity of care for patients cared for by students during a portion of the patient care sequence, develops nursing programs designed to complement and supplement nursing student assignments.
Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patients' changing needs.
Collaborates with, supports, and participates in departmental and organizational education and initiatives through Clinical Practice and Professional Development.
Initiates, conducts, and analyzes evidence-based practice research to improve patient care outcomes and supports other nursing and multidisciplinary research efforts on the unit and across UI Health.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
1. BSN minimum with Master's degree required
2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
3. Eligibility for registration with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
