Job Description

The Highlights:
In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, this role will serve as Dance Team Coach for the department of Intercollegiate Athletics within the guidelines of the NCAA, the BIG EAST Conference, and DePaul University.
This includes all preseason, in-season and postseason activities necessary to the development of a dance team which promotes the athletics programs in a positive and sporting manner.

What You'll Do:
Coach dance team members on choreography elements of pom, hip-hop, jazz and others for spirit routines under the direction of the Spirit Coordinator
Collaborates with Spirit Coordinator, Cheer Coach, Marketing, Band Director, and other Athletic Department staff to enhance the fan experience at athletic events, including but not limited to timeouts, halftime, pregame, in-game, and post game promotional efforts
Collaborates with Spirit Coordinator to instruct and prepare dance squad members for regional and national competition
Assists in the development of a practice and workout plan that improves health and minimizes risk of injury. Stays on top of proper techniques and developments within the dance world
Complies with University, NCAA, and BIG EAST rules regarding sportsmanship and ethical conduct and requires the same of dance squad members. The assistant coach shall adhere to all Clery Act requirements and shall be responsible for the conduct of squad members, volunteer coaches and guests present during his or her practices
The coach oversees student dance team members. Roster size varies between 10-16 members.

What You'll Need:
Bachelors degree required.
Preferred minimum of three years dance experience at the collegiate level.
Preferred coaching or related teaching experience.
Valid driver's license required.
American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators Safety Certification
Must be able to handle the physical rigors of team practice and competition, including the ability to demonstrate choreography.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and/or intercollegiate athletics environment.
Dedication to serving the department, the University and the student-athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative and integrity.
Position requires working evenings, weekends, and some holiday hours during the school year.
Occasional travel to off-campus events is required.
