Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Carpenters work with the Building Engineers who operate, maintain and perform preventive maintenance along with urgent corrective and routine repairs on all mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic, HVAC equipment and the physical environment throughout the campus and as outlined in the current MSA and in accordance with the Local 399 CBA.

This position requires at least 5 years professional carpentry experience.
The shift for this position will be Sunday - Thursday 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Target pay - $46.37. /hr

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cutting material such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
Fits and installs doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter's level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
Shapes materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
Assembles and fastens materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
Inspects ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
Moves necessary materials around jobsite as assigned.
Cleans up worksite debris.
Install and make containments using plastic sheeting or EdgeGuard.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Reports in proper working uniform at the beginning of shift to the Assistant Chief Engineer for duty assignments.
The Building Engineer uses Corrigo (CMMS) to manage workload and assigned work orders.
Operates and performs preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on all building equipment that the facilities department is responsible for maintaining.
Must complete the required documentation via Corrigo.
Must understand and use appropriate lock out/tag out system and tools.
Manages and edits the dashboard on an hourly basis for all work orders in the Corrigo work order system, to ensure timely closing of work orders prior to the end of shift.
Performs additional duties as requested by an Assistant Chief, Chief or Management.
Completes all assigned training within designated timeframe

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as outlined in the CBA as well as JLL requirements especially regarding safe work practices.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum of 3 years related engineering experience desired
Minimum of 5 years professional painting experience required
Must have proficient knowledge in plumbing, mechanical repairs and
maintenance and building operations
Ability to perform at a journeyman level all duties for Building Engineer in accordance with the Building Engineer Job Description and all requirements outlined in the CBA

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence using email and/or Corrigo
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor
