We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Network Engineer with our client in Chicago, Illinois! This role will be part of a small team, providing support and backup to the Sr. Systems Engineer. The successful candidate will be proficient in handling end-user issues and working with communication partners like ATT and Comcast. This role will demand both an understanding of Cisco Meraki and VOIP telecommunications, and the ability to handle switch configurations and access points.

Responsibilities:

+ Provide backup support to the Sr. Systems Engineer to ensure smooth network operations.

+ Handle end-user issues promptly and efficiently, providing high-quality customer service.

+ Work effectively with communication partners such as ATT and Comcast to resolve network problems.

+ Maintain and manage Cisco Meraki network systems, ensuring optimal performance.

+ Oversee VOIP telecommunications, ensuring clear, reliable communication across the network.

+ Manage switch configurations and access points, ensuring network efficiency and integrity.

+ Develop a deep understanding of Avaya Phone system and unified communications.

+ Utilize skills in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers and Cisco Technologies.

+ Apply knowledge in Computer Hardware, Configuration Management, Design, Eigrp, and Firewall Technologies.

+ Implement Meraki solutions to enhance network performance and reliability.

+ Proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

+ Demonstrable experience with Checkpoint

+ Familiarity with Cisco ASA

+ Hands-on experience with Cisco Routers

+ In-depth knowledge of Cisco Technologies

+ Ability to work with Computer Hardware

+ Proficiency in Configuration Management

+ Adept at Design

+ Familiarity with Eigrp

+ Profound understanding of Firewall Technologies

+ Experience with Meraki

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team

+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

+ – Strong communication and interpersonal skills

+ – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field preferred.
