Job Description
Description We are offering a contract job opportunity in the transport industry for a skilled Network Engineer based in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves the design, configuration, and maintenance of large-scale network systems, with a focus on voice experience and scripting. The workplace is fully remote, providing flexibility and convenience.
Responsibilities:
- Design, set up and manage information networks using Cisco technologies
- Apply knowledge of firewall technologies, particularly Checkpoint, to ensure network security
- Use Python for scripting and automation tasks
- Implement and maintain F5 load balancers and Juniper wireless systems
- Provide voice support and troubleshooting, following the transition from Cisco Voice to Teams
- Use Terraform for infrastructure as code and service provisioning
- Manage data center operations including OSPF and DTP
- Leverage knowledge of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Cisco ASA for network optimization
- Apply experience with Cisco routers and configuration management to ensure network efficiency
- Handle potential issues related to computer hardware.
This role is ideal for individuals who possess a strong understanding of network engineering in the transport industry and have a keen interest in the latest technologies and trends. Requirements
- Applicant must possess a strong understanding of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
- Experience with Checkpoint is essential for this position.
- Proficiency in working with Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers, and other Cisco Technologies is required.
- Knowledge of Computer Hardware is a necessity for this role.
- Experience in Configuration Management is highly desirable.
- Ability to Design network architecture is a key requirement.
- Familiarity with Eigrp is needed for this role.
- Demonstrated skills in Firewall Technologies are crucial.
- Prior experience with Terraform is an advantage.
- Proven history in the Transport industry is beneficial.
- Role requires a Network Engineer with strong problem-solving skills.
