Seeking a talented engineer with expertise in building and operating cloud services for the OCI Data Science organization. The OCI Data Science organization is rapidly evolving with the addition of Generative AI capabilities and is looking to add a senior engineer to the organization and help build the future of our AI/ML infrastructure products.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

OCI Data Science is an exciting organization in OCI, hyper-focused on delivering innovative AI/ML services. We focus on addressing challenges at the intersection of AI/ML, big data, and cutting-edge cloud infrastructure. We are building cloud services for a comprehensive AI/ML and Data Science platform. Our product vision includes interactive notebooks, Distributed Learning, and Generative AI, supporting a wide variety of ML algorithms/libraries, scalable model serving, and robust monitoring and analytics for ML models. Generative AI is a key area of focus for us. Our product vision also includes the ability for enterprises to customize these services for their specific business needs and to automate MLOps at scale while incorporating these AI/ML solutions, including Generative AI, in mission-critical applications.

As a software engineer for Data Science, you will be building distributed, scalable, fault tolerant software systems in support of data scientists and AI experts. You assist in entire software lifecycle – development, testing, CI/CD and production operations. You must balance between product feature development and production operational concerns like writing run books, ops automation, structured logging, instrumentation for metrics and events leveraging a plethora of internal tooling at OCI.

Must Have Candidate Qualifications:

· Experience working on distributed systems and building highly available services

· Must have at least 4+ years of professional work experience developing in Java,Python or Go

· Experience with RESTful API, microservices, Spring Framework, SQL, NoSQL

· Experience with Cloud technologies like AWS, Azure and/or GCP.

· Experience building AI/ML infrastructure and services is preferable.

· Software development experience working for a cloud provider is preferable

What You’ll Do:

· Build cloud service on top of the modern Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) building blocks at OCI

· Design and build distributed, scalable, fault tolerant software systems

· Participate in the entire software lifecycle – development, testing, CI and production operations

· Participate in cloud service operational work like region builds, writing runbooks, ops automation, instrumentation for metrics and events

· Leverage internal tooling at OCI to develop, build, deploy and troubleshoot software

· Take initiative and be responsible for delivering complex software by working effectively with the team and other stakeholders

· Participate in on-call for the service with the team

US: Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
