Job overview and responsibilities

This operational support position is designed to grow the candidate’s knowledge of United’s best practices, Digital Technology’s tools, processes and functions with oversite and mentoring from senior leaders in the Field Services organization. This role is responsible for managing (DT) Digital Technology aspects of small to medium projects that are diverse and complex. Coordinates the field side of project planning, execution, timing, functionality, quality. Required to interact with vendors and contractors. Have a strong background in project management, understand technical/business requirements gathered from the business units. The candidate will have to possess excellent organization & communication skills, as well as possess excellent customer service skills. The candidate will ensure United’s IT Critical Infrastructure standards are followed. The role is involved in project deployment and support of End User, LAN “Local Area Network” WAN “Wide Area Network” VOIP “Voice Over IP”CCTV “Closed Circuit Television” and Mobility platforms. The role will be the interface between Field Services and internal/external business partners.

The successful candidate must possess excellent organization and communication skills with a strong background in project management, strong understanding of telecommunications standards and practices, and excellent customer service skills. + Support United’s HUB & regional airports, and other United facilities.

+ Duties include Walkthroughs, (DT) Digital Technology Equipment, preventative maintenance, mobility product support, DT infrastructure support, operational equipment and communication rooms, base location inventory management and supply storage.

+ Performs system maintenance/administration, diagnostics, automated imaging of PC equipment/IT Infrastructure, installation and removal of PC equipment, assist end users with troubleshooting of device performance issue.

+ Attends regional project meetings and provides project tracking and analysis.

+ Supports the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables.

+ Coordinate activities with internal/external technology owners/service providers. ex; Network Engineering, WAN Engineering, Wi-Fi Engineering, mobility Engineering.

+ Ensures The Main Distribution Frame (MDF) room and intermediate distribution frame (IDF) conform to established enterprise/industry standards (BICSI) Building Industry Consulting Service International, (EIA) Electronic Industries Alliance, (TIA) Telecommunications Industry association, monitor, manage, and maintain (DT) Digital Technology infrastructure and end user equipment to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.

Qualifications

Required

+ Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or Equivalent IT Field Service Experience.

+ 2-4 years of IT experience.

+ Knowledge of Mobility IOS/Android, Windows, LAN room and (DT) Digital technology Infrastructure experience (Copper, fiber optic)

+ Experience in project management/lifecycle management

+ Ability to communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Aptitude for problem solving.

+ Strong level of poise in high pressure environments.

+ Active commitment to self-development

+ Technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies.

+ Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification.

+ Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

+ Must work well in a team collaborative environment

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.

Preferred

+ Airline Digital Technology Field Service & Technical Project Management experience.

Working Conditions

+ Travel – 50% (domestic and international) required along with after-hours work and weekends support, as needed.

+ Provides on-site support and is on-call 7×24×365, as needed.
